Estonia to be the last EU member state to mandate biofuel blending

In Estonia, the government has decided—after learning lessons from the other EU member states as they implemented biofuel blending mandates in line with the Renewable Fuel Directive—that it will be the last country to do so, implementing 3.3% by May 2017, 6.4% by 2018 and 10% by 2020, according to proposed legislation. A key concern had been the impacts of poor quality biodiesel during cold weather but that in the years since the RED was implemented, those quality issues have been sorted out.
