Malaysia vows to win over EU member states to stay palm oil biodiesel ban

In Malaysia, in the wake of the European Parliament’s vote to ban palm oil for biodiesel from 2021, “referred to as a “black day” for free trade by the Malaysian government, it vowed to work hard in convincing the European Commission and European member states of palm oil’s role in the European market before the tripartite decision is reached on the Renewable Energy Directive II. Engagement is expected to take place through Malaysian embassies in Europe as well as European representations in Malaysia.
